Switch to MC

I love it when I look back and realize that things happen for a reason. I was canceled on last minute for my plans last Saturday night, and as a result, I spent the majority of the evening reading blogs, b-school websites, etc. I stumbled across one that discussed the pros and cons of i-banking vs. management consulting. I should note here that up until this point, I was set on pursuing IB post MBA. However, this particular site noted the history of i-banks letting MBA grads go after a few years. Although I have been reassured that a top-tier degree will make it relatively easy to get a job at any point, I do not relish the idea of jumping back into the applicant pool anywhere a mere 1-2 years after braving the MBA application process, then the job application process post-MBA.

I read on in said blog, and started considering the benefits of MC for my particular life. I am not tied down (at all - no boyfriend, kids, anything, and no plans to get any in the near-ish future). I have not traveled extensively but am DYING to, and I am bored easily so I thrive on new and different challenges. In my view...what was I thinking?? Most importantly, it dawned on me that in college, I completed a senior honors project that culminated in a 100-page paper that was essentially a consulting position for the School of Ed at my undergrad institution. So finally...my app (and the answer the the three "Whys" of the application process) is complete!

I'm thrilled. I have created more work for myself, in that now I have to study the MC aspects of the schools I'm applying to, but nevertheless, I'm very excited. Everyone who I have told this story to seems to nod and smile with a kind of sympathetic look on their face that I am ~this~ excited about my revelation, but I don't care. I'm thrilled.

I am less thrilled that I started studying (officially) for the GMAT today. I think I can get the score I want if I put in the time...I just may not have a social life for the next three months between work and studying.

I have PR's Cracking the GMAT, Kaplan's Premier Program, and of course the OG's. I will attack them in that order, as well.

Done studying for now, off to watch my Chargers play their first (and hopefully not last) playoff game of the post season.
